My child was so small, and now we`re burying him". Said Itzik Ochaiyun father of 4 year old Afik as tears rolled down his cheeks, during the funeral.
When the small body reached the grave site many residents burst out in tears, his father wept as he hugged the body of his son refusing to let the members of the chevre kadisha bury him.
Hudreds of residents from Sderot and the aria attended the funeral. Ruth the boys mother was seriously wounded from the same attack. "He was a wonderful child, my only child who arrived 15 years late, and he`s already gone", eulogized his father.
"I heard about the attack, and I called Mom and Grandma, but no one answered. When I saw my child`s preschool on the news I got butterflies in my stomach. I arrived at Soroka Hospital in Be`er Sheva, a number of family members were already there. The doctors were waiting for me and told me the bad news. And then I understood why Mom didn`t answer, she was also wounded by the rocket; she`s in critical condition and is now in the operating room.
Last Friday before the Kassam fell, Itzik met his son for the last time. "I would visit him every Friday, and sometimes during the week. On Friday he gave me an invitation, and told me "Dad I have an invitation for Tuesday"". At the end of his funeral today will be Tuesday.
"I loved everything about him, he was very smart. He knew what he was doing. He was barely four years old but already he had self confidence. Every Friday he would ask me to take him to the car wash. He would love to see how the car was washed in the big machine, and would love to be in the car when it went thru the wash."
