The Sderot Security Headquarters requested from the IDF`s Chief Rabbi, Rav Eliyahu to compose a special prayer for the well being of Sderot area residents. Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu blessed the initiative, and recommended reciting the prayer every Shabbat, before opening the Aron Hakodesh.
Rav Eliyahu mentioned that one should not count on a miracle, and fighting back is necessary. " Chazal stated: Ein somchim al hanes": You shall not depend on a miracle. Especially while the people of Israel are living in fear, some being injured and even killed. Many have been forced to leave their homes. The integrity of Israel has been dishonored. The government of Israel is not allowing the Army to fight back, while planning to return more of God’s land to the terrorists who will expand the war to Israel`s center.
